Edsential supported Holiday Activity Fund set to benefit over 8,500 children across Cheshire West & Chester, Wirral, and Halton over the summer holidays.

Following on from the successful summer 2020 and spring HAF 2021 programmes Edsential are excited to be co-ordinating the Holiday Activity Fund for the summer holiday period on behalf of Cheshire West & Chester Council, Wirral Council, and Halton Borough Council.

Families across the boroughs will be able to enjoy free nutritious food and engaging activities at a wide range of exciting holiday clubs over the summer. Over 120 organisations have been funded to deliver holiday provision across more than 200 fun-filled holiday activity clubs throughout the three local authorities in the school holidays. It is expected that these schools, community, voluntary and faith sector organisations will support over 8,500 children, young people, and their families across Cheshire West & Chester, Wirral, and Halton delivering:

  • healthy meals and snacks, along with family cooking sessions.
  • a variety of directly delivered physical activities, such as yoga, skateboarding, dance, inflatable play and judo, making the most of our outdoor spaces.
  • diverse enrichment activities, including arts and crafts, hairdressing, forest schools, teddy bear picnics and much more.

Edsential and the three local authorities have ensured that this year’s programme is the biggest and best to date. Bethan Cooper, Holiday Activity Fund Manager at Edsential said:

“Working in partnership with community, voluntary and faith organisations across the North West, we have an amazing summer planned full of fun, food and friendship. Look out over the next few weeks for the information informing families of the exciting activities on offer.”

Since its launch in 2019, Edsential have helped the Holiday Activity Fund provide over 207,000 nutritional meals and 3,300 jam-packed activity days to families across West Cheshire, Wirral, and Halton. Ian McGrady, Managing Director at Edsential Community Interest Company said:

We are delighted to once again be co-ordinating the Holiday Activity Fund on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Wirral Council and Halton Borough Council. Building on the success of these partnerships over the last two years and through our established network of community providers, Edsential is able to ensure that this crucial £2.7m of funding from the Department for Education for the 2021 holiday activity programme goes directly to the children and young people in our local communities who need it most”.

A full list of the clubs taking place over the summer holidays will be available on the Edsential website from 12th July 2021: https://edsential.com/holidayactivityfund2021/
