Edsential are excited to announce the launch of the Holiday Activity Fund for 2020.

For the second year, Edsential have been successful in accessing funding to co-ordinate Holiday Activity and Food Provision over the summer period, at a time when such provision for young people and their families is needed more than ever.

Working alongside Halton Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council and Wirral Council, local schools, Community, Voluntary and Faith sector partners, and Feeding Britain, the funding received by Edsential will deliver:

  • Healthy meals and snacks along with family cooking sessions
  • A variety of online and directly delivered physical activities such as dance, Yoga, HIIT and adventure play making the most of our outdoor spaces
  • Diverse enrichment activities including arts and crafts, pottery making, gardening clubs and much more

Edsential have ensured that their delivery methods for this year’s Holiday Activity Fund Provision will adhere to the Government’s guidance around COVID-19, encouraging groups to look at what could be delivered safely both on and offline. We have lots of fun direct delivery and online content enabling young people and their families to take part in daily sessions supporting an active summer. Hopefully we can see some socially distanced activities using the area’s amazing outdoor spaces too.

Last year, the Edsential Holiday Activity Fund provided an astounding 27,784 nutritional meals and 25,232 activity-filled attendance days to families in West Cheshire alone. This year, it is hoped the provision will support over 56% of eligible Free School Meal children across the Local Authorities; over 13,000 children.

Edsential supporting partnership includes Halton Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council and Wirral Council, Cheshire West Voluntary Action, The Welcome Network, Community Action Wirral, Feeding Birkenhead and supporting Wirral and Halton and St Helens Voluntary community Action.
