INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW

 

Securing additional funding and resources is becoming more important than ever for schools and pre-schools. This course will enable delegates to learn good practice relating to fundraising, for example, how to write an exceptional grant funding application, understand what grant funding sources are available and how to be persuasive and confident when approaching local businesses for financial and/or ‘in kind’ support. The relaxed and informative session will help you prepare an application or appeal to stand the best chance of success.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES: 

To enable participants to:

  • Create a compelling and high quality grant funding application or appeal
  • Understand grant funding principles and recognised best practice to stand the best chance of success
  • Apply their own local knowledge to the preparation of funding applications
  • Identify and source relevant grant funding opportunities
  • Understand how to approach local businesses for financial and/or ‘in kind’ resources and support
  • Find out about new fundraising ideas; what works well and why
  • Develop a Fundraising Plan

 

PROGRAMME FOR THE HALF DAY MORNING SESSION

 

8:45am      ARRIVAL, registration, tea/coffee, networking

9:15am       START: Welcome and Introductions.  Course Objectives and Course Outline

9:25am       How to write and develop an exceptional grant funding application

  • How to avoid common pitfalls; hints and tips for success
  • How to evidence the need for funding
  • How to explain the needs of target groups
  • How to demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities
  • How to demonstrate competent project management
  • How to prepare a realistic and logical budget; how to evidence sustainability
  • How to explain project outputs and outcomes; monitoring and evaluation
  • How to be innovative through partnership working

11:00am        Sources of Grant Funding – an overview

11:15am         How to approach and engage with local businesses

11:40am        Group Discussion: Fundraising Ideas – what works well and why? How to develop a Fundraising Plan

12:10pm        Review and Evaluation

12:15pm        Close

 

The cost of the half-day course is £89 + VAT for the first delegate, then £59 + VAT for second and subsequent delegates from the same school.

The venue will be open 30 minutes prior to the start time for tea/coffee, registration and networking.  The cost includes a comprehensive delegate pack.
