Geometry

Describe position,?direction,?and movement, including whole, half, quarter, and three-quarter turns.

Play Simon says (teacher says) using directional language. Whole turn, half turn, quarter turn etc.

Extend this by using quarter turn clockwise etc.

Model paired activity

Set out chalk grid on the play ground 4×5 grid with the numbers 1 – 20 marked randomly. What directions would we need to go from ? number to ? number.

Repeat several times

Children to work in small groups or pairs using a predetermined grid 5×4 grid with numbers 1 to 20 set at random.

Children are to use directional language to give directions so that their partner can move from one number to another.
