A Great Success for Cheshire’s First Music Careers Expo!

We are delighted to announce the success of Cheshire’s Music Careers Expo, which took place in September 2024. Hosted at Winsford Academy, this event has solidified our reputation as a key player in helping young people in the community explore their future career options.

Coordinated by Alex Harper, our Music Area Lead for Cheshire West, and Jake Barnabas, drum teacher, the expo attracted 200 attendees and featured inspiring figures from the music industry. Among the 11 guest speakers were indie band The Luka State, Gabi King (percussionist for The 1975), award-winning entrepreneur Jon Eno, sound engineer AI Groves, and music producers Josh Noble and Karl Ziegler. Aspiring musicians were also given hands-on experiences in the Roland Live Room, thanks to sponsorship from Roland, a global leader in cutting-edge music equipment.

The day was packed with interactive sessions, industry insights, top universities exhibiting, and opportunities to connect with professionals who have worked with chart-topping artists such as Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, and Tom Grennan.

Not only was the event a sell-out, with 99% of tickets sold, but it also reached nearly 13,000 people on social media, gained coverage in the Winsford and Northwich Guardian, and was featured in an interview on Northwich Radio.

Cheshire’s Music Careers Expo opened up new career pathways in the music industry, introducing young people to roles they might not have previously considered. It also dispelled the notion that success in music is only about becoming a famous artist, highlighting the many essential behind-the-scenes roles that keep the industry moving.
