What you will learn:

Basic Awareness training to enable Governors to understand the context of safeguarding in school

An overview of reporting procedures and how these might be responded to.

An overview of tools and questions that can support governors in undertaking their duties.

Reference to the legal framework and the specific guidance contained in Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Delegates will:

• Be able to describe what safeguarding is and the different ways in which C&YP can be harmed
• Understand the different terms used in connection with safeguarding

Understand the process for recognising & describing the signs and indicators of abuse

• Understand how staff respond appropriately to concerns about C&YP
• Appreciate your own role and responsibilities and those of others in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of C&YP
• Understand the procedures for sharing concerns about another adult’s behaviour in line with your setting’s Whistleblowing policy
• Have an understanding of the managing allegations process (DO)
• Understand safer working practices and areas where staff members may be vulnerable
• Understand Governors specific responsibilities
